What does it mean to thrive while the system around you collapses?
That’s the question I’ve been sitting with lately.
Things at FinAbility are going incredibly well.
– We’re launching new projects with partner organizations I’ve long admired.
– We’re growing our team.
– We continue to build momentum with fundraising and program expansion.
It’s the kind of momentum I used to dream about…
But at the same time, I’m watching the domestic violence field unravel due to shifting government priorities.
Funding is disappearing. Advocates are burning out. Programs are closing. Survivors are being left with fewer resources and fewer places to go.
It’s devastating.
And I’ll be honest—I've had to numb myself to keep functioning.
To keep leading.
To keep showing up.
But what has given me hope is our community and shared resilience.
Just as I’ve evolved as a leader, FinAbility is evolving too.
We’re laying the groundwork to expand beyond just individual program delivery and co-design a system-wide infrastructure for economic empowerment.
We’re bringing what we’ve learned from supporting over 55,000 survivors into statewide and national movement-building efforts—ensuring that organizations and people aren’t left behind during this painful transition.
Because innovation alone won’t solve the crisis our mission space now faces.
But innovation rooted in solidarity, community, and collaboration might.
If you’re building something in the middle of broken infrastructure—
If you’re holding growth in one hand and grief in the other—
You’re not alone.
You’re not broken.
You’re part of something bigger.
And we’re here for you ❤️
